Ant Colony: Wild Forest is a mobile strategy game from HYPERCELL, the studio behind hits like Mr. Bullet and Bowmasters, though here they trade frantic shooting for patient colony building. The title falls into the real-time strategy and simulation genre, and its sound design deserves immediate praise: a gentle acoustic score blends with crisp, organic effects like the crunch of leaves under mandibles and the soft drip of morning dew. The art style is a stylized, low-poly forest floor viewed from a slight top-down angle, using warm greens and browns that make even a beetle's shell feel inviting. You play as a young queen ant, guiding her first brood from a single tunnel to a sprawling underground network. The narrative is sparse but effective: survive the wild, reproduce, and defend against rival colonies and hungry spiders. A special technique involves pheromone trails. You do not directly command each ant. Instead, you place scent markers to lure workers toward food or warriors toward threats, then watch the AI handle the rest. This indirect control feels fresh, though it can frustrate when your colony ignores a wasp because a nearby crumb is more tempting. The resource loop of gathering seeds, fungus, and nectar is addictive, and the day-night cycle adds urgency. My overall assessment is that the game is a charming, bite-sized RTS that respects your time, but it lacks late-game depth. Once you unlock the third chamber, the challenge plateaus. Still, for a free-to-play mobile title with optional ads, it is a polished, surprisingly thoughtful take on insect warfare.

How to play?

Step1 🐜 Launch the game and tap the glowing egg icon to hatch your first worker. Do not build anything yet. Let the tutorial guide you through placing a single pheromone trail toward the nearest seed pile.

Step2 🌰 Collect 10 seeds by dragging your finger from the seed to the tunnel entrance. Your workers will follow the invisible line. Keep the trail short; long trails waste ant energy.

Step3 🕳️ Once you have 10 seeds, tap the tunnel to open the build menu. Choose the nursery chamber. This unlocks larvae production, which is your only way to get more ants.

Step4 🍄 Assign two workers to fungus farming by tapping the fungus icon, then tapping a damp soil patch. Fungus feeds your queen and speeds up egg laying. Ignore nectar for now.

Step5 🐞 When a red ladybug appears, switch two workers to warriors. Draw a pheromone line directly onto the ladybug. Warriors will attack on contact. Do not chase it into tall grass.

Step6 🕷️ At the first spider raid, retreat all workers underground by tapping the tunnel twice. Only warriors should stay out. The spider targets the closest ant, so sacrifice one warrior to lead it away.

Step7 🏆 After repelling three raids, save 50 seeds and build the queen's chamber. This wins the forest level. Repeat the same pheromone discipline in the next biome, but swap fungus for lichen.
